Procurement in Royal Mail
Procurement is led by CPO Kath Harmeston, a highly regarded figure within Procurement who reports directly to the CFO. The CPO’s commercial acumen has enabled her to move into a senior business role at the Organisation from a Consultancy where she was instrumental in massive procurement transformational focused programmes across industry.
Procurement has already been heavily involved in a programme of business- wide cost minimisation. The success of this activity has catapulted Procurement into one of the leading transformation-driving teams within the Organisation and Procurement is very clearly seen as a trusted commercial advisor rather than a transactional function. The roles now available within Procurement provide an opportunity to play a significant part in the ongoing development of both Procurement and the organisation as a whole.
Royal Mail takes a “Private Sector” approach to business, being highly commercial in focus. There is an exceptionally strong focus on cost reduction which is shared across all business functions. Candidates should anticipate that complexity and scale of spend and stakeholder management experienced at the Organisation will be some of the greatest in the market.
